Sewing World News~
Love Notions~
The “Woven Wonders” Collection sale is over~ I hope you grabbed any of those patterns that you needed/wanted! Be on the look out in August for the next sale collection!
I know that many of you are missing “Feature Friday” $5 pattern sales each Friday but each month going forward there will be a new collection of patterns (with a theme) that will be on sale for an entire 2 weeks. Typically each collection will feature at least 5 patterns, one course and one printed pattern. Tentative dates for the next Collection Sale are August 7-20. No worries, the Weekly Stitch will keep you updated!!
Pattern Emporium Friday 50% Off Pattern Is~ Heartlight Skirt
The Heartlight Skirt sewing pattern features a timeless fit & flare silhouette with a soft, comfortable waistband and beautifully flowing shape. Available in multiple lengths, it’s just as suited to everyday wear as it is to dressing up, making it a versatile wardrobe staple you’ll reach for again and again
You can grab the pattern HERE. Pattern is on sale for $5.50 USD
Remember PE in an Australian company so this sale will end Friday night at 10 PM EST.

*Some readers have wondered why I have started including the weekly(almost) pattern sales from Pattern Emporium. Although this pattern company has been around for awhile, I have just sewn only one of their patterns. I have however purchased several of them! I have been using the Friday 50% sales to build up my PE pattern collection. As time goes on, I will be able to show you more of my PE makes and include some blog posts dedicated to PE patterns.
I was VERY impressed with the pattern instructions and the construction techniques! My very first job (at Simplicity Pattern Co.) was as a technical writer and one of my jobs was to determine if there were any corrections or adjustments to be done to the “Primer” or instruction sheet. I also wrote educational materials and answered the questions sent into the Simplicity Magazine each month.
Fabric Release From Raspberry Creek Fabrics~ Coming Tuesday, August 4
The Fall Club Collection will release next Tuesday 8/4. This includes all the new Fall Club prints that are available on French Terry, Cotton Jersey, Double Brushed Poly and Rib knit. New this release any print that is available on French Terry or Cotton Jersey will also be offered on the Supreme Shirting Broadcloth. Any print that is available on DBP or Rib knit will also be available on Sweatshirt fleece and Ponte! For those of you that may be newer to RCF~ Club Collections are released a few times a year and the retire when the next season is released. For example~ Summer Club will retire when the Fall Collection releases. Holiday Collections typically retire the day after that holiday. It is always less expensive to purchase a current collection that to custom print. During the first week of a release they are also $1 off per yard.
In addition, the new Club prints on Stretch Crepe, Rayon Challis and Ponte will also be releasing the same day!!! So much to choose from. Again, they will be on sale $1 off per yard during the release week. This is a great opportunity to order from both new lines at release week pricing AND save on some shipping!!
If you’ve been a reader of the Sew Mary Mac blog for a bit, then you know that I LOVE RCF rayon challis!
I can’t show any sneak peeks this time around~ but I’ll come back to this post on Tuesday to add some of the prints and my makes!!
Be on the look out for even more new fabrics from Raspberry Creek Fabrics such as:
- New Oxford Cloth stripes, solids and plaids in August
- New Denims at the end of August (various shades and weights, stretch and non-stretch)
- New Club Halloween Release in French Terry, Cotton Jersey, DPB and Rib
- New Ribbing in September
- New French Twill in September
What I Wore Last Week~
As you may be able to tell, I’m still pulling items from the back of my closet! I’ve been wearing a mix of new makes and really old makes.
- LN Melody Dolman ~ in a cotton gingham ( my wearable muslin for this pattern back in 2022?)
- LN Rhapsody Blouse~ in a rayon crepe from Style Maker Fabrics with Trumpet sleeve
- PE About Town Popover ~ in a seersucker stripe from Mood Fabrics, NYC Garment District
- Helen’s Closet Yoke Pinafore~ in a Japanese Cotton
- I don’t love this worn with a tank~however our air conditioning wasn’t working and I was trying to stay cool. Luckily it is all fixed now!!
- LN Willow Wrap Dress~ in an ITY knit from Zelouf Fabrics, NYC
- I included an up close pic of the ITY fabric, as it never photographs very well when worn. It is much more navy blue in person~ the modeled photo looks like it is more white with navy.
- LN Caprice Skirt~ in linen blend from my deep stash (one of the many I made when this pattern released)
- I took 2 photos to show how I wore it that day. At home, I wore it with just a RTW tank, when I went out to lunch I threw on a little J Crew cardigan that I bought last fall.

What I’m Sewing This Week~
This week I sewed up my Fall RCF Strike-Offs. I used the LN Juliet Top pattern to sew up my favorite nightgown ever in Cotton Jersey. I used the LN Vivace Top to whip up some DBP in the prettiest Sketch Floral. Finally I sewed up a beautiful Autumn Floral French Terry into the LN Constellation Pullover. Those of you that follow me know that I LOVE that pattern and own so many already! I love to batch sew~ especially with the LN Aria pattern, LN Rhapsody and the Constellation. So, you guessed it~ I sewed up 2 Constellations at the same time. I pulled a French Terry I had custom printed a few years ago just waiting patiently to become a Constellation. Below you can see the “Lilly P” like print along with just a tiny sneak peek of my new Fall Floral one as well.
Earlier in the week, I also finished a Helen’s Closet York Pinafore in an 8 oz. non stretch denim. It’s a Rail Stripe and it turned out soooo cute! I can’t wait to show that to you all. The new denims release 8/25 so I’ll post pics on the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Facebook page, along with that week’s Weekly Stitch!

If you are struggling with finding high quality zippers~
My go-to resource for zippers is SIL in the NYC Garment District. They have a great selection of zippers in hundreds of colors. They will also cut a zipper to any size that you may need. The GOOD NEWS? You can buy them online!
The zipper I used for my new Fall Floral Constellation is the new EVERBRIGHT zipper. It is part of YKK’s new luxury line of zippers. It is highly polished and glides so smoothly. It comes in shiny brass or shiny silver. I prefer the #3 size but it is also available in #5. Both sizes are available in separating or closed end. Oh, and did I mention they are available in 107 colors? The zipper for my new Constellation was just $6,50. I feel this zipper can really elevate your Constellation to the next level. You can find these zippers HERE.
If you prefer plastic zippers, like the one used on my “Lilly P” print Constellation, my favorite zipper would be the YKK, #3 Vislon zipper. You can find these zippers HERE. These zippers come in lengths of 4″- 28″ for just $3.50 in 146 different colors. You can also have them custom cut a zipper for you. These zippers are also available in #5 and #8 sizes and in closed, separating, and 2-way separating(limited colors).
The online color chart is very accurate, as when I don’t have time to run into the city to shop in person, I have ordered online. Shipping is fast too! There is even an option to change the zipper pull for an additional charge.
There is a YKK color chart available for $38. You can find that HERE.

Sewing Plans~
For the next few weeks I will be working on a bunch of promo sews for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. As you can see above, there is a ton of new fabrics coming soon! This is what I’ve got planned for the next few weeks.
- Poplin Spotlight Promo in the cotton poplin that is currently in the shop ~ I’ve changed my mind and I’ve cut out the LN Melody Dolman instead since I’ve been enjoying wearing that pattern lately.
- New Crepe release~ a beautiful burgundy floral in a Pattern Emporium blouse (still deciding which one exactly)
- It was shipped to the wrong Promo Team member so hopefully it will get here soon!
- Oxford Cloth~ solid and stripe ~ deciding between a LN Aria or Band Camp
- Denim~ I have a light wash 8 oz denim to sew up a pair of the LN Somerset pants.
In between my promo sews~ I’m planning of getting by seersucker color blocked LN Caprice Skirt sewn up along with one additional Caprice Skirt. I also need to get back to some alterations as well.
Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!

Bonus Photos~
My husband and I did a lot of bike riding the past 2 weeks on the D & L Canal Trail in PA~ just across the Delaware River from NJ. This week we got caught in a random thunderstorm~ how lucky were we that we saw it coming and were right by the Covered Bridge in Uhlerstown, PA were we hung out till it passed. We then took the bridge over the Delaware River into Frenchtown (NJ) for dinner. Dinner at Chez Daniel~ one of my favorite placed to eat in all of NJ!! We rode back on the NJ side and reached our car just as dusk was approaching. It was so much cooler going in the evening. That might just be the plan for the month of August!
