New Halloween Release From Raspberry Creek Fabrics!!
The Halloween Club fabrics have arrived and are $1 off per yard through next Monday, 8/24! This collection is filled with something for everyone. Do you or your family members LOVE Halloween themed prints~ RCF has you covered! Do you prefer “subtle Halloween” that you can wear beyond the holiday? Well RCF has you covered for that as well! You can find all the new Halloween fabrics HERE.
What’s new about the Club Collections is which fabrics you can get them printed on at retail prices (as opposed to custom printing). Club fabrics are seasonal designs that are printed on 2 different groups of bases. Club Collections are released each new holiday season as well. The two different groups are as follows:
- Group 1~ The “Natural Bases” French Terry, Cotton Lycra Jersey and the new Supreme Shirting Cotton 50’s
- Group 2~ Double Brushed Poly, Rib Knit, and now also Sweatshirt Fleece and Ponte Knit
Many of the designs are available in both of the fabric groups~ the difference will be the amount of print coverage. Full coverage designs don’t print well on the “natural fiber” bases. This is why all designs aren’t available on all the club bases. The “natural bases” designs have more white background as opposed to the others. Another thing to note is that anything printed on the Sweatshirt Fleece will have a slight “heathered” look to it.
For those of you who prefer “subtle Halloween”, the Halloween Collection includes some great ginghams and stripes!! I picked out the purple gingham in French Terry for a new True Bias Marlo Sweater cardigan. I used the heather gray ribbing that will be in the RCF shop in the beginning of September. I can’t wait for the weather to cool off so I can wear this!
I picked some traditional Halloween prints for my great niece and nephew. They have a slew of Halloween sweatshirts that I’ve made them in the past that all fit~ so I wanted to try something a little different. When my daughters (and niece~ these are her children I sew for) were young, my mother used to sew them pillowcases for every single holiday! I, in fact, still have them in my linen closet! I decided to sew Lucas and Vivi pillowcases!! I can’t wait to give them to them~ in the mean time, my cat Fiona stepped in to model with them.
The new Supreme Shirting 50’s Cotton broadcloth was PERFECT. This fabric reminds me of my favorite LL Bean Percale sheets which made it PERFECT for pillowcases. It is crisp and cool and will only get softer when washed.
I purchased one yard for each pillowcase~ but since this was a directional design I had to attach a separate band at the opening rather than just folding it in to the inside. I took this opportunity to add some bias tape as decorative trim. This project was easy, yet satisfying too. I really had fun sewing them up! They just might get Christmas pillowcases too!! Let me know in the comments if you’re interested in the simple directions for these and I can get them typed up!

What I Wore Last Week~
I wore a few Aria Button Downs last week~ which is very typical for me. Both times I wore long sleeved versions were for bike rides. This is always the go-to shirt for those rides. Laundry Day was spent wearing~ what else a Laundry Day Tee Dress!! I’ve been having fun wearing my older Williamette popover tops and dress hack as well. My Band Camp shirt is sadly too large~ and I’m not about to take it apart to alter it~ wearing it tied up is giving it a few more wears for the summer. My Caprice Skirt and La Bella Donna is featured in two photos~ one before I left the house and the other after our 2 hour paddle boat down the river last Saturday. It was a fun day~ hot and windy~ but this outfit was perfect!

What I’m Sewing This Week~
This I finished up sewing the Halloween Strike-off for Raspberry Creek Fabrics I showed you above. Sewing that Marlo Sweater cardigan really has me wanting to sew more for Fall!!
I also finished sewing the Fit version of the new Love Notions top/dress pattern that will release in September. It’s coming along nicely and I think you’ll all love it! It requires sewing with bias binding~ so I would practice up on making your own bias binding. Store purchased could be used~ but I wouldn’t recommend it for this design. (No sneak peeks yet!)
I’ve got two Love Notions Everyday Play dresses all cut out and ready to sew for my great niece Vivi who starts Kindergarten in September. This is my go-to dress pattern for her. It’s quick to sew, uses 1 yard of fabric and she loves them! As she grows taller, she keeps wearing them with shorts! Here are the two I’m working on and a pic of her from last year’s first day of PreK.
Sewing Plans~
What do I have coming up in my sewing plans???
I’m still thinking about sewing up a new LN Frankie Polo. I just haven’t found something in my stash yet that is perfect~ but I have a few “totes” in the basement and a closet I need to look through first. I found a piece of chambray I want to use for the collar at least!
I have some French Terry sweatshirts planned for my great nephew Jacob’s 1st birthday in September. I grabbed some really cute prints from the RCF Fall line for those. I love using the Brindle & Twig Lounge Sweatshirt. Here is a picture of ones I made for his older brother and sister a few years ago for Halloween. My plan is to cut them all out and batch sew them up. I should be able to do that in one afternoon this weekend.
A ton of Strike-off sewing for RCF in the next few weeks including~
- Denim pants- I’ve decided on the LN Somerset pants and have them cut out and ready to sew this weekend!
- Christmas Club prints~ TBD once I see the new prints
- Ribbing~ a new Fall sweatshirt for me in one of the new mini gingham French Terry prints with the new retail ribbing coming to the shop. My inspiration is one I saw online.
- French Twill~ I’ve got a “Shacket” planned in the PERFECT color for my wardrobe~ “Nautical Red”
- I’m planning on using the PE DownTown Jacket
I still have those LN Caprice skirts on my list!!! But sadly~ I think I will wait on the color blocked seersucker striped version until I find the perfect or almost perfect fabric. For now I will simply sew up a linen version and a rayon challis version.

Bonus Photos~
I haven’t included any bonus photos the past few weeks~ so I decided to include some photos of our bike rides the past 2 weeks. We’ve been riding the D & L Canal Trail in PA. (Delaware & Lehigh). This week we found a great little Greek restaurant in Yardley, PA right along the canal for lunch/dinner. This week we did 34 miles!
