PE About Town Popover
Sewing World News~
Surge Fabrics has some wonderful new arrivals for Fall.
I really love these new 100% cotton jersey striped knits. (They would be perfect for the LN Frankie Polo.). Below are a few of the options. I wouldn’t sleep on these as they may go fast!
“Our 100% cotton jersey is soft, breathable, and light to midweight — basically, the perfect t-shirt fabric. With a smooth hand and airy feel, it’s comfortable enough for everyday wear but still has the quality and versatility to make your handmade pieces feel special. Whether you’re sewing classic tees, tanks, or easygoing dresses, this jersey is ready to be your new go-to.”
Another new fabric in their shop is the Stowe Cable Sweater Knit. “A cozy sweater knit with beautiful dimensional texture knitted right in. Alternating cable and ribbed details run throughout the fabric, creating the look of a classic hand knit sweater without requiring you to pick up a single knitting needle.” How awesome does this fabric sound?
I’ve also got my eyes on some of the Designer Deadstock shirtings that are in the shop. They are perfect for the LN Aria or Band Camp shirts!
You can find all of these fabrics HERE.
Kayla~ the owner of Surge Fabrics is a sewist herself and takes pride in the fabrics that she carries in her family owned shop.

What I’m Sewing This Week~
Well~ another week and I’ve sewn NOTHING!! I really had plans to sew over the weekend, but my daughter came down to visit for the day (while new windows were being installed in her house). So instead of sewing I got a nice day with my daughter and we (okay she) picked out a new paint color for the main living areas of my house. She is a Textile Designer in NYC and truly is a color wizard!
So~ I’m hoping this weekend I will get started on my Christmas Promo sews for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. My goal is to sew up at least one of them weekend! (Maybe 2!). Edited~ I’m going to make my goal smaller and say, just ONE RCF promo sew for this weekend. I think I’ll start with my sweatshirt fleece Aria that I planned!
My Sewing Plans~
So yes~ I just cut and pasted my sewing plans from last week’s Weekly Stitch yet AGAIN! Let’s hope I get this accomplished!
The first thing I need to do is to finish up the Christmas Club Strike offs.
Next I plan on working on a RCF promo with some navy “Cargo Canvas” to sew up a jacket. I’ve been going back and forth on which pattern to use. Over vacation I looked at some other options, so this weekend I’ll make my final choice and get started. Contenders are: Grainline Thayer Jacket, Chalk & Notch Den Jacket and the Friday Pattern Company Ilford Jacket. I’m leaning towards the Thayer Jacket as I type this!
I’m also hoping to sew up one or two new LN Aria Button downs in Fall plaids! I’m sure you noticed by now that I LOVE wearing button downs and I actually “need” a few new ones for Fall. I have some really awesome “sueded rayon shirting” fabric from Style Maker Fabrics for one of the Arias. I also have a plaid twill shirting f rom RCF that I can’t wait to sew up as well.
I also need to sew up a new Oakley Vest or two. Mine are getting a tad to large to wear anymore~ and I really don’t feel like removing the bias binding to alter them. The Aria and Oakley really is my go to combo all Fall and Winter long!
At this point~ I’m not making up a huge long list of things I want/need to make until I get my “sewjo” back!! I’m also not feeling “guilty” about not sewing. I truly love the Fall on the Northeast Coast and I love spending time outside. My sewing machines will still be there once it gets cold and windy!!
Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!

Bonus Photos~
This week we traveled north to ride our bikes across the Hudson River in NY. We’ve done this before and the views are always wonderful. You can look south and see NYC skyline in the distance or north to see the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. This time parked at the Rockland Landing in NY ( before the bridge) then rode our bikes across to Tarrytown. We explored Tarrytown a bit, but there is a bit too much road traffic for me (we prefer trails). We then headed back over the bridge (it’s called the Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge now~ but we still always refer to it as the Tappan Zee Bridge).
Once back over the Hudson, we rode along the Esposito Trail into the village of Nyack for a nice lunch at Prohibition River. Then we rode along a nice quiet road over to Nyack State Beach and the bike trail that went all along the Hudson River. This was a new to us trail that my son-in-law suggested. We can’t wait to do this one again (without the bridge)!
It was a full day~ but something we love to do in the Fall before it gets too cool.
These photos are from the center of the bridge looking at the town of Tarrytown and the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. I also grabbed a photo of the bridge from Tarrytown.

Once back over into Rockland County we rode into the Village of Nyack for lunch and then rode up to Nyack Beach State Park to the trail along the Hudson River. You can see the bridge we rode over in one of the photos. We can’t wait to go back and explore this again~ specifically heading up to Hook Mountain.

After riding bike with my husband all day on Tuesday, on Wednesday I headed into NYC with my sister to see a Broadway show. Schmigadoon was so much fun and the pizza never disappoints either! I love the Fall in NYC!
