Sewing World News~

Love Notions News

I hope that you all were able to grab what patterns you “needed” from the 40% off sale! What I love most about the cooler temps of Fall is LAYERING! Need some inspiration for layering your Love Notions makes~ visit my blog post from earlier this week “Layering For Fall With Love Notions”. You can read it HERE.

There is a new pattern in testing right now called the Cosette ~ think cozy top and pants for the cooler temps! Here is a sneak peek of the original line drawing~ note that it usually has a few changes made during testing so this may not wind up being exact.

Below is a sneak peek of a tester’s version that Tami shared on the Love Notions Facebook Group page earlier this week.

There was some talk about dividing this into 2 separate patterns and offering more options to each piece. There hasn’t been a decision made about that yet. I’ll be sure to keep you updated!

Want to get fabric ready for this set? Medium to heavyweight knit fabrics such as Liverpool, double knit and ponte are recommended. Where to purchase? I suggest checking out the following fabrics from some of my most trusted fabric resources.

If you really want to create your own unique Cosette~ you can have one of thousands of designs printed on Ponte de Roma at Raspberry Creek Fabrics. You can select one of their retired designs, one from the Designer Library or even upload your own design!

Pattern Emporium Friday

Since there was a new pattern released and it was on sale through the beginning of this week, there is no 50% off Friday pattern this week. There will be one next Friday!!

 Raspberry Creek Fabrics

It is finally in the shop!!!! A whole new line of retail Denim is at Raspberry Creek Fabric. They are available in a variety of weights, some with stretch, some without. There are even 2 different Railroad stripes to choose from! Perfect for some new makes for Fall!

You can shop the entire collection of denim HERE.

I used the 8 oz denim in the light wash to sew up a pair of Love Notions Somerset Capri pants. I think this is the perfect weight for a nice pant for Fall.

I also selected the 8 oz Railroad Stripe to make Helen’s Closet York Pinafore. Back when I was in high school I made a denim overall style jumper in this exact fabric! I’m a little too old (and busty) to were that bib style jumper now~ but I thought this was a great replacement! I’ve been wearing this way more than I thought I would~ it’s just so comfy.

When I chose this denim and pattern combo~ the weather was still warm here. Now that it’s truly fall here, I plan on wearing this with a long sleeved sweater and sneakers!

What I’m Sewing This Week~

I may not have gotten much (okay any) sewing done this week. But~ I did a really deep dive into my huge walk-in closet (That I don’t share with my husband) and pulled out all my fall/winter memades.

I made 3 (very large) piles~

  • Things that I could wear right now and want to.
  • Things that were too large to wear but I want to wear ~ this will become my alterations pile. However, I hung them all the the closet in my sewing room so it doesn’t seem as overwhelming
  • Things that I won’t wear (even if they fit) and things that are too large that I don’t feel the need to alter them
    • This pile was divided into 2~ a donation pile that is being picked up today and a pile for the hospital consignment shop.

So~ this weekend I have vowed to get started on my Christmas Promo sews for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. My goal is to sew up at least one of them weekend! I think I’ll start with my sweatshirt fleece Aria that I planned!

My Sewing Plans~

The first thing I need to do is to finish up the Christmas Club Strike offs.

Next I will be working on a RCF promo with some navy “Cargo Canvas” to sew up a jacket. I’ve been going back and forth on which pattern to use. Over vacation I looked at some other options, so this weekend I’ll make my final choice and get started. Contenders are: Grainline Thayer Jacket, Chalk & Notch Den Jacket and the Friday Pattern Company Ilford Jacket. I’m leaning towards the Thayer Jacket as I type this!

I’m also hoping to sew up one or two new LN Aria Button downs in Fall plaids! I’m sure you noticed by now that I LOVE wearing button downs and I actually “need” a few new ones for Fall. I have some really awesome “sueded rayon shirting” fabric from Style Maker Fabrics for one of the Arias. I also have a plaid twill shirting f rom RCF that I can’t wait to sew up as well. I’ve also realized that I want to make a few solid color Arias as well.

I also need to sew up a new Oakley Vest or two. Mine are getting a tad to large to wear anymore~ and I really don’t feel like removing the bias binding to alter them. The Aria and Oakley really is my go to combo all Fall and Winter long! I’ve been having trouble finding the quilted sweater knits that are my favorite for this pattern. I finally saw some at GK Textiles in Canada. I’m thinking from ordering from them~ I know a few other sewists who have purchased from them and are very happy. I’ll keep you updated!

At this point~ I’m not making up a huge long list of things I want/need to make until I get my “sewjo” back!! I’m also not feeling “guilty” about not sewing. I truly love the Fall on the Northeast Coast and I love spending time outside. My sewing machines will still be there once it gets cold and windy!!

Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!
