What I’m Sewing This Week~

This week I sewed up some kids clothing from the Patriotic Line from Raspberry Creek Fabrics for my great niece and nephews. My favorite shirt for all of them is the Baggy Tee from Brindle & Twig. I made the boys matching tees and I made a coordinating Love Notions Everyday Play dress for my niece. I was able to sneak out a tee for my niece as well with the scraps! These will be perfect for Memorial Day and July 4th! You can see the entire collection HERE.

You may have noticed I didn’t sew up much this week. I’ve had a really busy week. Sunday I went up to an Art Show in beautiful Verona Park by my daughter’s house. Tuesday, my husband and drove to Cape May(NJ) and took the ferry across to Lewes(DE) for another bike ride through Cape Henelopen State Park onto Reboboth Beach. Believe it or not, it was 10 degrees cooler further south. (It was a high of 95* at home!)

Then, Wednesday I went into the city with my sister to see a show on Broadway. We saw Two Stranger Carry A Cake Across New York and it was FABULOUS!!! And lastly today I’m going to lunch with 4 of my best friends down on Long Beach Island~ we all taught together for many years and are now all retired!

My Spring Sewing Plans~ ALTERING BREAK!

My alterations pile is just getting bigger and bigger! I have been making some progress on them. I’ve also decided to donate some items from this pile as well.

Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!

Feature Friday Pattern From Love Notions~ Chorus Top & Dress

The $6 Feature Friday pattern from Love Notions today, 4/24/2026 is the Chorus top and dress.  Need a nice dress in a jiffy? THIS is your pattern!! I was amazed at how quickly I was able to sew my maxi dress version! If you plan on purchasing the Chorus pattern, please consider clicking on my link to do so. This is an affiliate link and it will give me credit for your purchase. (Read more about this at the end of my post)

The Chorus Top and Dress is a unique dress that has many options to choose from. Depending on options selected and fabric used, this dress/top can be casual or dressy. It’s comfortable to wear, flattering and fairly simple to sew!

Both of my versions are sewn up in ITY knit. Personally I love sewing with ITY (even though some are a bit slippery to sew) because they are cool to wear, don’t wrinkle and you can roll them up into your carry on bag!! They go on every vacation with me!

For all the details on my sizing and the alterations I made for my Chorus maxi dresses , visit this blog post.

Why else should you purchase the Game Day Jersey? Do you love V-necks, but struggle sewing them??? Then THIS is the pattern for you! The lapped V-neck is such an easy element to sew- and it looks great! That is my favorite version of the Game Day! Oh yeah and it makes a great nightgown too( pajama top)! ………….Welcome To My Sewing Room!!

Feature Friday Pattern From Love Notions~

The $6 Feature Friday pattern today, 11/14/25 is the Sloane Sweater! This is a MUST HAVE pattern in my opinion. Not only does it include great options~ it’s also a fun pattern to hack. PS~ the Kids Version is also on sale for $6 too! Be sure to use my code 10MACSEWS for an additional 10% off.

A few years ago some of my fellow sewists began calling me the “Sloane Queen” because I made so many! I found the last few years I had taken a step back from it (maybe because I needed to make a bigger size.) The last few weeks I’ve been pulling them out and wearing them anyway and I totally remember why I loved this pattern so much! I’ve altered my pattern and sewn up a few new ones too. Another thing I love about the Sloane is that you can size up or down depending on the look you want. I’ve been wearing my larges, and then just fit closer and are great for layering. I’ve also made then as size up as a relaxed sweatshirt! I’ve linked a few blog posts below so you can see all my Sloane versions and Sloane Hacks! Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for some online Fabric Resources for the Sloane Sweater!!

The Details ~ Sloane Sweater for Ladies

The Sloane is a drop shoulder pullover that includes two basic body styles. View A has a slimmer silhouette with a curved high/low shirt tail hem that falls about mid hip. View B has a boxier more relaxed fit. It features a waistband and hits a high hip. I have even sized up for View B sometimes to have a more oversized sweatshirt.

Both views can be sewn with or without the yoke. It can be made as a basic crewneck or with a hood. Other options include a kangaroo pocket and elbow patches. There are so many different combinations you can come up with! The possibilities are endless!! Just go to the Love Notions Facebook Pattern Support group and type Sloane in the search. It’s hard to believe all the versions you’ll see are all made from this awesome pattern!

  • Sizes XS-5X
  • Full Bust Option
  • 2 Body Styles
  • Relaxed Fit
  • Dropped Shoulder
  • Optional: yoke, elbow patches, hood and kangaroo pocket
  • Designed for knit fabrics
  • Skill Level: Confident Beginner

For full details on the Sloane Sweater including my sizing and alterations, suggested fabrics and sewing tips be sure to visit this blog post.

Sloane Sweater for Girls

The Sloane Sweater for girls is available in sizes 2T-16 and includes all the options of the Ladies Sloane (except the full bust option). View B could also be used for boys.

What I Wore Last Week~

Clearly I love wearing the LN Aria all Fall as I wore it several times this week again! I also searched through the back of my closet for things I don’t wear very often. The day I pulled out my LN Evanston Vest to wear and photograph~ I decided when looking at the photos that I felt it was too long. Fabric Resources For The Sloane Sweater

SURGE FABRICS

One of the many reasons I like to shop at Surge Fabrics is the great quality and prices. This is a family owned business and Kayla is a sewist like us. She cares about the quality of the fabrics that she sells. Be sure to follow her on Instagram and join the Surge Facebook Group to keep updated on sales, restocks of staples and new fabrics!

Surge has a such a great selection of sweater knits(at reasonable prices) that are perfect for the Sloane Sweater. I like sweater knits for both View A and View B. Some of my favorites are the Cayambe Rib knit and the Nepal Rib Knit. The Seville Wide Rib Knit would make a great dressier version. These are just a few of the sweater knits available. Check out their entire sweater fabric selection HERE.

For View B of the Sloane I also like to use French Terry (check the stretch %!). Surge has an amazing selection of solid color French Terry perfect for color blocking. See all the colors HERE.

RASPBERRY CREEK FABRICS

RCF has a nice selection of Hacci Sweater knits that are perfect for the Sloane. It sews up nicely in both View A and B. In addition to the “Club” selection found HERE you can also custom print any of the designs in the Designer Library on Hacci sweater knit. There is a big selection of plaids and stripes that would work so nicely for a Men’s Tailgate too.

“Club” or retail Hacci Details : about $13 per yard, Medium Weight, 8 oz, 90% Polyester/7% Rayon/3% Spandex, at least 50% stretch, made and printed in the USA

Here are a few of my favorites. I am finishing up a Sloane in the Houndstooth for a RCF Promo.

RCF also has a nice selection of seasonal French Terry that is perfect for a View B Sloane. Over the years I have sewn more than a dozen for RCF (promo work) in various French Terry Prints. (Check out my Sloane Blog above to see some of them). You can see all the current “Club”/Retails French Terry Prints HERE. Below are a few of the Fall/Winter and Christmas prints available now.

French Terry Details: about $14.00 per yard, 58”wide, 220 GSM, 95/5 cotton spandex, at least 50% 4 way stretch.

Of course if you have any of the infamous Oatmeal French Terry~ it sews up into THE BEST Sloane! I have used this fabric for several of my Sloanes over the years along with Terra Tunics. This is the fabric I used for my husband’s LN Tailgate. My husband absolutely loves this fabric! This French Terry has more drape than most other French Terrys so it works for both the Ladies View A and View B. You can find this fabric HERE. However once the stock of it is gone~ it’s gone!!!

What I’m Sewing This Week~

I spent a lot of time this week putting together the Fabric Resource Guide for the Octave Coat, so I didn’t get as much sewing as I typically would get done.

My first sewing obligation this week was to sew up my Fit pattern test for Love Notions. A Fit test is the first round of testing a pattern where there are testers in all the sizes. We evaluate the fit of the pattern and recommend changes we think should be made. We share photos with the entire testing team along with Tami. Once Tami has made any changes she thinks are necessary, we will sew up another version. This pattern is going to be a super quick make and really cute. I can’t wait to show you!

Edited to add: Tami has made the first set of changes to the vest pattern and I’m working on my next version.

Style Maker Fabrics Fall Fabric Haul

There are my Fall Fabrics I just got from Style Maker Fabrics. I loved watching the video Michelle had on YouTube to follow along and “see” all the new Fall fabrics. I love how I am able to see how each of the fabrics drape. This will be done again in March for the new Spring/Summer Fabrics. Here is what I chose along with my “plans” for each.

  • Houndstooth Plaid Worsted Wool blend from Italy~ Most likely an LN Aria vest like THIS one.
  • Plush Cable Quilted Double Knit in Berry~ Either a LN Constellation or a LN Clef Coat
  • Autumn Leaves French Terry(European fabric)~ Either a LN Constellation or a TB Marlo Sweater
  • Jacquard Shirting in Indigo~ LN Aria or LN Band Camp button down
  • Jacquard Shirting in Natural~ NEW LN vest pattern I’m testing. This is for my final version!

The second photos of the Jacquard Shirting shows how it looks after being prewashed. It is almost like a double gauze, but a bit more substantial.

Raspberry Creek Fabrics Oatmeal French Terry

This highly coveted Oatmeal French Terry is milled just once a year especially for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. This infamous French Terry is the softest and squishiest fabric you will ever wear!!! It is my absolute favorite fabric to make the hooded LN Terra Tunic in.

Once it is gone~ it’s gone for another year! Typically there will be a preorder for this fabric so that they can gauge how much fabric to have milled. We haven’t heard anything yet for this year, but I will keep you updated as I get the details. If you’d like to see more “Oatmeal” makes, visit the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Facebook group and type “Oatmeal French Terry” in the search.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Diana (from Raspberry Creek Fabrics) just announced on Wednesday that a preorder is now open for Oatmeal French Terry!!! See what she said below:

Oatmeal French Terry PRE-ORDER!

You asked and we answered. Oatmeal french terry is now on pre-order in the shop!

What is so special about oatmeal french terry? It is the coziest, softest, most squishy french terry out there. There is something about the heathered yarn that gives the french terry a bit more body and squish. You don’t want to miss it!

For now, we have the solid oatmeal french terry.

If you recall, when the shop ownership transitioned we mentioned that RCF now has the ability to print using white ink. We are working on test printing, figuring out which print method gets the best results on the oatmeal.

So, snag your solid for now and we’ll see what the future holds. If you have a print you’d like to see on oatmeal french terry, comment below and we’ll see what we can make happen.

This pre-order is actually a pretty quick turn around, hoping to start shipping towards the end of the month or early November. But that also means we have limited yardage this go round. So, get your order in ASAP if you want to snag yardage from this round.

Quilted Sweater Knits

I have a few trusted online fabric shops that have some quilted knits available. I LOVE my Oakley vests in a quilted knit!

Surge Fabrics. Both of my quilted knits came from Surge Fabrics. They still have both designs available~ the Interwoven Square and the Cable Knit. My Burgundy Interwoven is not available, however they have 8 other colors. My Ivory Cable Knit is still available along with black and gray. You can find them all HERE.

Raspberry Creek Fabrics has a Diamond Quilted Knit($13.50 per yard) and a Striped Quilted Knit($14.94 per yard), both available in three colors. You can find them HERE.

Style Makers Fabrics has 4 options to choose from in a variety of colors. You can find them HERE.

  • Plush Cable Quilted Double Knit~ this has a bit more structure than the ones listed above. I just received this in the Berry. There are 7 colors available at $22.99 per yard. Pictured above in my Fabric Haul.
  • Deco Geometric Double Knit~ Available in 3 Fall Neutrals for $19.99 per yard
  • Cable Stripe Knit~ available in 3 colors for $24.99 per yard
  • Diamond Double Knit~ available in Raspberry for $22.99 per yard ( I purchased some of this in Sage and Plum previously and have plans for 2 new Oakley vests.)

Bonus Photos~ Girl’s Trip to Rehoboth Beach, DE

I had the best time with 4 of my retired teacher friends! We ate some great meals, we shopped and shopped and shopped. We even had a Show-n-Tell evening showing each other all our purchases. October was a perfect month to shop~ since a $10 donation to Breast Cancer Research provided us with a coupon for 25% off one item in a lot of the stores! Rehoboth Beach is known for its beach of course along with the boardwalk~ but the tax free shopping is also a big draw! There are actually 3 outlet centers all within a mile or two of each other!

We were able to get over to the boardwalk to see the Harvest Moon over the Atlantic Ocean one evening.

These were all my purchases~ I did buy some things for my husband too!
