Clearwater Summer Essential Sewing Course ~ I Highly Recommend this!!!
I have made and worn my Clearwater Swim dress over and over and over (I live on the coast). I’ve also made the Clearwater sports bra and brief for my little niece. My Clearwater Dress was my first ever attempt of making a swimsuit for myself and I like sewing and wearing it so much I made a second one!
For more info on the Ladies Clearwater Summer Essentials, visit this blog post.
Both blog posts contain specific sewing tips. The Ladies blog has tips on sewing the swim dress and how I was able to fit this to my petite busty shape. The Girls blog has some tips for sewing the sports bra and briefs. Both blogs have recommendations on elastic. You’ll even find tips for sewing with swim fabrics in both posts!

Pattern Emporium 50~Off Friday Pattern Is~Take The Chance Shirt Dress
The Take The Chance Shirt Dress sewing pattern has been designed with the relaxed structure of an easy fitting shirt.
It features buttons (or snaps) along the front opening, a simple integrated placket & collar, with the easiest instructions ever! It is finished with a 2 or 3 panel tiered skirt and a selection of sleeve options.
You can grab this pattern for $6.50 (USD) Here. (Note, since PE is an Australian company the sale lasts until Friday 10 PM EST)
I am so excited to make this dress. So many other patterns similar to this have bodices which are much more fitted. This is exactly the relaxed fit that I’m looking for~ without having to hack a pattern!!!! How pretty would this be in rayon challis or double gauze???? I am adding this to my Summer Sewing List!!

What I Wore This Week~
- LN Aria Button Down~ in a denim chambray print (made a few years ago)
- McCalls 7135 Mock Wrap Dress ~ in a Telio ITY knit from Fabric.com(RIP) made in 2017
- LN Caprice Skirt~ in a rayon challis
- Worn with a RTW Scallop neck tank top
- True Bias Marlo Sweater cardigan~ this is one of my most favorite cardigans to sew!
- LN Constellation Pullover~ in French Terry From Raspberry Creek Fabrics (still available)
- LN Aria Button Down~ in a cotton poplin from the NYC garment district (Chic Fabrics)
- LN Aurora Tunic~ in a textured knit from Joann’s (made when the pattern released in 2023)

Several of the Me Made items I made this week were made a few years ago. Some now fit again and the others I will keep and make a few adjustments to them.
- TB Marlo Sweater cardigan~ this is a bit too large but I will wear it as is.(nothing wrong with a big comfy cardigan)
- LN Caprice Skirt~ easiest fix ever! Simply tighten the elastic at the waist!
- LN Aria~ the pink plaid version has just a tad too much fullness around the hips. I am going to undo the hem and take in the side seams.
- LN Aurora Tunic~ when I made this tunic I took out the shaping at the waist to account for my larger waist. I am simply going to take in the side seams creating the shaping the pattern was intended to have. Once I take in the side seams the folds above the pockets will go away!
What I’m Sewing This Week~
This week, I was able to sew up part of my”faux dress” using the LN Caprice Skirt(View A with the button placket) and Timbre Top. I cut out and sewed up the skirt first, then tried it on with several different tops (Rhapsody, Timbre, Band Camp, Muse and Harmony). The Timbre won~ but I really liked the Rhapsody and Muse as well. (Guess I’ll be making another faux dress this summer!). I’ll get going on the top after I adjust my Timbre pattern and finish up the pattern test I’m working on. (see more on that below)
The rayon challis for this “dress” was custom printed at Raspberry Creek Fabrics. As a member of their Promo Team, I was given this fabric to sew up in exchange for promoting it on their Facebook Page (and anywhere else I choose to). This custom design in from Cheryl Graham Designs in the RCF Designer Studios. I have printed several of her design at RCF~ most of my “Lilly P” like designs are from her studio. Be sure to check her out!
I highly recommend their Rayon Challis. I have been purchasing it for years and I find that I prefer it. I find it to be much less “shifty” than some and much easier to work with. Although I didn’t purchase this particular piece, I have bought yards and yards(probably close to 100 with my own money)! It also washes well. I always prewash it two times in prewash for shrinkage~ I then wash it in cold water after sewn.

I also worked on a pattern test for Love Notions, this will be a cute summer set that will work so many ways with different fabrics. I’m excited for you to see this! It should be ready to release towards the end of June. I will say that the pattern includes 2 pieces and I’ve sewn up both my fit test versions. Be sure to check the Love Notions Facebook Group for sneak peeks of this new pattern!!
Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!
