New Pattern From Pattern Emporium~ Just Between Us Asymmetric Hem Top

Pattern Emporium just released the Just Between Us pattern~ an asymmetric tee pattern for wovens. There is also a video to go along with this pattern, where you can see how using different fabrics can make a really big difference with the same pattern.

The Just Between Us Top is one of those patterns that can look completely different depending on the fabric and finish you choose.

It features 3 styles to sew – add the hem panel & topstitching for extra detail, finish it with lace or keep it simple with a clean hemmed finish. The asymmetric hem creates interest without overpowering the design, making it just as easy to wear as it is to sew. With four neckline options, three sleeve styles and three hem finishes, there’s plenty of scope to make it your own.

Designed for woven fabrics with either fluid drape or soft body, this relaxed-fit top is a straightforward sew with a surprisingly big style payoff.

A new tutorial format is also being introduced which is “simple, clearer and easier to navigate”. I haven’t had a chance to look over the new format yet, as I’m still on vacation, but I’m looking forward to checking it out. I have found PE tutorials to be excellent so I can’t even imagine how they could have improved them!!

I really love this with the center front seam. I can envision this is linen! How breezy and cool will this be for summer!! The Just Between Us pattern will be 15% off the regular price of $14 (USD) for the next 4 days. Remember PE is an Australian company, so this means the pattern will be on sale through Monday, 6/29 until 10 PM EST.

You can find this pattern and Video HERE.

What I Wore Last Week~

Just working my way through my closet still!!! Asking myself~

  • Still fits well
  • Fits again (Yay!)
  • Keep or Donate
  • Too big and needs alterations~ big question here is do I like it enough to alter it?

In case you haven’t figured it out~ I HATE altering clothing! I would rather make a brand new item most of the time. So I really question if it is worth my time. Most of the clothes I choose to alter are because I simply love the fabric!!!!

  • LN Laundry Day Tee Dress~ in ITY knit from Zeulof Fabrics
  • LN Laundry Day Tee Dress~ in ITY knit from Zeulof Fabrics
  • LN Laundry Day Tee Dress~ in ITY knit from Chic Fabrics in the NYC Garment District
  • LN Aria Button Down~ in a cotton embroidered stripe shirting with gingham accents for plackets and undercollar
    • I also used vintage porcelain buttons from my grandmother’s button collection.
  • True Bias Mave Skirt ~ in a georgette from Alyssa May Fabrics (lined with white rayon challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. See below for a link to this fabric.
    • LN Classic Tee/La Bella Donna mashup ~ in Cotton Modal knit from Style Maker Fabrics (my fave T-shirt fabric!) See below for more info on this mash-up and fabric.
  • LN Aria Button Down~ 100% linen from Gray Lines Linen in the NYC Garment District

My three LDT dresses now all fit again~ however I may just take them in at the bust and waist a tad.

My Cotton Striped Long sleeved Aria button down also fits nicely again. The short sleeve version needs to be “ungraded out” at the hip. My arms hid it in this photo, but it looks like I have little “wings” at my hips.

The TB Mave Skirt will get just a simple adjustment. I was able to wear it since it had a drawstring, but the elastic is too loose. When I pulled the drawstring tighter, it made the top row of elastic almost create a small ruffle. This will be a super simple fix! I tested this skirt pattern for True Bias years ago and I still love wearing it! Rayon Challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics in white is the PERFECT fabric for lining garments. I especially love it with this poly georgette fabric because it helps to eliminate static cling. You can find the solid white rayon challis HERE.

What I’m Sewing This Week~ NOTHING!

On Sunday we headed up to Boston for a few days and then drove down to Mystic, CT for a couple days as well. All last week we kept seeing videos and photos from the Scottish “takeover” in Boston due to the World Cup games. My husband secretly was hoping to meet up with them while we were there. Not sure what I’m talking about? Simply Google “Tartan Army in Boston”. Next week’s blog will have some bonus photos from our trip~ so make sure you come back to see if he succeeded!

This weekend, I will get back to sewing again. I need to finish up my Back To School strike-offs and a new shirting fabric for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. I also have some sewing do to for my great niece Vivi’s birthday in July. I’ve gathered all the fabrics but need to get to work on them as well. Hopefully July will be filled with sewing just for fun!! Here are a few things that I’ve moved to the top of my “Want To Sew” list.

  • LN Aria Button Down~ color blocked linen version (lt blue, pink and lt purple)
  • LN Aria Button Down~ Light blue and white striped linen
  • PE Grab A Cuppa Cardi~ Pink Rib (wearable muslin)
  • PE Grab A Cuppa Cardi~ Green/White Stripe knit

Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room!

Fabric Resources~

Raspberry Creek Fabrics Rayon Challis

This solid white rayon challis is the actual fabric that RCF uses to print all of their rayon challis prints onto. It is also available to purchase as just white. I always keep yards of it on hand for lining purposes. I love using this for lining as it does not get static cling like many other fabrics used for lining. You can find this fabric HERE.

Style Maker Fabrics Cotton Modal

This is my absolute fabric to use for basic tops. The white is makes the perfect white tee and isn’t show through! Below is a picture of my most worn La Bella Donna in this fabric. It is available in 23 colors! It may be a tad more expensive than other cotton jersey fabrics, but it doesn’t pill and washes so well. I’ve had my white one for years now and it gets worn and washed A LOT! You can find this fabric HERE.
