What I Wore Last Week~
- LN Sunday Romper Dress~ in an ITY from Fabric Mart (2020~ this was my very first pattern test for LN before I was an Ambassador)

This week, I wore 2 older make (2020ish) that had no longer fit me! I also wore 2 Timbre tops that are too large so I “tied” them up. (I don’t actually tie them, but rather use a small elastic to pull them together. I think it creates neater less bulky look.). I also wore 2 Band Camps, the pink being too large(and tied up) and my newest Band Camp in my current size. I did shorten this new version a tad for this crisp new cotton. I have to admit that I like wearing my “big” pink Band Camp on hot and humid days~ nothing is cooler than double gauze and I’ve decided not to alter this one at all!
What I’m Sewing This Week~
This week I was able to sew up the color blocked linen LN Aria Button Down that has been on my “list” since spring!! I was always reaching for my first color blocked version more than any other Aria that I have made, so it was time for another one! I’m glad I updated the sizing on my Aria pattern so that now I can just keep sewing them! I love color blocking and pattern mixing on shirts~ the only thing I don’t love is how long it takes to cut them out and get them all marked properly~ it’s especially hard on fabrics like solid linens that don’t have a right or wrong side! It seriously took me all day to just cut out and mark this shirt making sure I didn’t wind up with 2 right sleeves! Modeled photos coming soon!
I also sewed up a new LN Caprice Skirt (a hacked combo of views) with a vintage look rayon challis I picked up in the NYC Garment District. This was one of the fabrics that I liked when I did my first walk through of my favorite shops. I took photos of several fabrics, then went and sat for a quick lunch (NYC Grandma pizza!) and looked over the photos. I then decided that I needed to grab this piece and I’m so glad I did! I finished this just in time to wear to a small theater in New Hope, PA to see South Pacific last night! Photos coming soon! Want more info on shopping in the NYC Garment District for fabric? I also prewashed the new denim I received from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and decided what patterns I will use to sew these up. They will be releasing in August and let me just say that I LOVE how the. 8 oz (non stretch) denim washed and feels!!! I’m working on a Helen’s Closet York Pinafore in a striped Rail Denim and it’s gonna be so cute!
Altering~
I was able to alter 2 LN Caprice Skirts this week as well. I admit just had to open the waistline casing and shorten the elastic. I’m really struggling with my alterations pile!! I’m simply just altering the clothes made in fabrics that I really LOVE at this point!
Sewing Plans~
For the next 2 weeks I will be working on a bunch of promo sews for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. As you can see above, there is a ton of new fabrics coming soon! This is what I’m planning for them~
- Fall French Terry, Cotton Jersey and DBP strike off to sew. Most likely a LN Constellation, LN Juliet Nightgown hack and a LN Vivace Dolman top
- Poplin Spotlight Promo in the cotton poplin that is currently in the shop ~ Pattern Emporium About Town Popover
- New Crepe release~ a beautiful burgundy floral in a Pattern Emporium blouse (still deciding which one exactly)
- Oxford Cloth~ solid and stripe ~ deciding between a LN Aria or Band Camp
- Denim~ Working right now on the York Pinafore and will sew up a pair of the LN Somerset pants with the other.
In between sewing up all these I hope to get my color blocked seersucker striped skirt sewn up too! I got my fabric from the Etsy shop. The colors aren’t exact, but I don’t feel I could get them closer without spending a ton of money. However, the quality is just OK. I admit to being a fabric snob and I wish the cotton content was higher, however for this skirt the higher poly content might make the skirt drape better. It is certainly not as nice as the cotton/poly seersucker I can get from Mood (but they didn’t have yellow). It will work well for this skirt as far as drape goes~ but I’m thinking I may need to line it as it is thinner than seersucker with a higher(or 100%) cotton content. I will use white rayon challis for the lining~ my go to in the one I purchase from RCF.
I might also try to sew up another LN Caprice Skirt in-between all the promo sewing. The elastic waistline of this skirt is perfect for sewing right NOW and still being able to wear in the fall. I have a sewing room FULL of rayon challis that I could use.
I think these colors will work really well. The green isn’t quite as bright as my Inspo skirt~ but the other option was a lime green.
I will use the LN Caprice Skirt, View C. The plan is to cut the pattern piece in half lengthwise. This skirt pattern has just one pattern piece that you cut for the front and back, each on the fold. For this skirt, I won’t be placing the center from section on the fold.
I think this is going to be a fun skirt when done!!
