Love Notions~ No Sale This Friday!
Be on the look out next Friday, July 17 for the release of a new sale collection!!! There will be 5-6 patterns each only $5 each! If you purchase at least 2, you’ll be able to get an additional 10% off with my code MARYMAC10.
Pattern Emporium 50% Friday Pattern is ~
Ocean Daze- Very Oversized Shirt and Dress
The Ocean Daze Very Oversized Fit Shirt sewing pattern is a fabulously roomy & easy to wear style. Everything about this shirt is so perfectly exaggerated.
Need a layering piece? This pattern also works fabulously as an overshirt. An overshirt is basically a shirt, jacket or shacket, that can be worn as a layering piece. I think the name of this pattern says it all~ Beach Coverup sewn up in a lightweight linen.
You can grab the pattern HERE. Pattern is on sale for just $7.00(USD)
Remember PE in an Australian company so this sale will end Friday night at 10 PM EST.

New Retail Fabric Coming to Raspberry Creek Fabrics!!
If you didn’t know, Raspberry Creek Fabrics was taken over by new owners a few months ago. All is running smoothly and you can still get all your favorite French Terry, Cotton Jersey, Swim knits , DBP, Rib knits and Rayon Challis there. Diana (the previous owner) is still on board as the Design Director along with Brittany who was her behind the scenes helper(this included being a designer and running the promo team and you name it!).
In addition to still carrying all the existing retail fabrics and those available for custom printing, they have been adding more and more retail fabrics to the shop. You may have seen the new Verona Active Stretch Poly or the Taslan Nylon.
Coming soon~ a new shirting fabric~ “Supreme Shirting Cotton 50s Broadcloth”. I am getting ready to sew up a sample shirt right now! A few details that I know so far~
- 100% cotton
- Width 57″/58″
- Yarn Count – 50*50
- Weight- 110 gsm
- Available in many solid colors
- Available for custom printing on white
- Slated for 7/14 release
Here is a sneak peek of my fabric. I love this custom print from Bex Morley! I’ve used it twice already. I had it printed in a smaller scale for a rayon challis LN Rhapsody Blouse and on cotton poplin for the lining of my white linen LN Oakley Vest. Here is a sneak peek at all the solid colors that will be available too!
I’ve prewashed this fabric and it still has that nice “crisp and cool” hand to it! I can’t wait to get this sewn up!!!
What is the difference between this Cotton broadcloth and the Cotton Poplin that is currently in the shop?
- The new Broadcloth is smoother due to the type of weave, this allows it to drape for more fluidly creating a softer luxurious look.
- The Poplin holds crisp creases better and results in a more structured look.

PS~ another little secret (there is denim coming too!!!!)
What I Wore Last Week~
I’m still pulling things from my closet! My short sleeved Aria button downs are mostly too large, but I do like wearing them tied up like the seersucker version below. The Laundry Day Tee Dress made from swim is the very first one I ever made~ it started it all!!!! I was so happy that this fits me now~ it’s going to vacation with me! The Alder shirt dress was one of my favorite makes a few years ago~ so I can’t wait to wear this more (along with the other 2 I have!)
- LN Aria Button Down~ Color blocked in seersucker from Mood Fabrics, NYC Garment District
- LN Aria Button Down~ in a linen blend from Chic Fabrics, NYC Garment District
- LN Laundry Day Tee Dress~ in a swim knit from Raspberry Creek Fabrics
- LN Chorus Dress~ in an ITY knit from Mood Fabrics, NYC
- LN Aria Button Down~ in a seersucker from Mood Fabrics, NYC
- Grainline Studio Alder Shirt Dress~ in linen from Metro Textiles, NYC Garment District

What I’m Sewing This Week~
The beginning of the week, I worked on finishing up Vivi Lou’s birthday clothes. I made her 3 short sets, using my favorite patterns~ Brindle & Twig Baggy Tee and Lounge Sweatshirt along with the Peek A Boo Pattern Coastal Craze Shorts. I absolutely love the modern fit of Brindle & Twig patterns and I highly recommend them. The Coastal Craze shorts have a few variations, however the sizing seems to run a bit small.
I used a variety of fabrics from my stash. The yellow/yellow stripe is sewn in the softest cotton jersey I’ve ever sewn with. I purchased this 3 years ago and every year she gets a new set in a bigger size! Sadly this fabric came from The Fabric Snob who is no longer in business. It is one of her most favorite outfits! I only had scraps to work with this year, so the shorts are striped instead of the top like other years.
I grabbed the Cherries rib knit at Hobby Lobby. Not as nice quality as others that I’ve worked with~ but it won’t have to last for years. The red shorts are made in a cotton jersey from Raspberry Creek Fabrics ( I have a stash of just about every color they carry!)
The Blue Ditsy Floral “Urban” Rib is from Graceful Fabrics. This particular print is sold out, but they have a huge selection of others available. If you use the code MARY you can get 15% off your order. I originally purchased this for a sweatshirt for myself, but then thought it would be so cute for a short/sweatshirt set for nights on the beach. I think this one is going to be a hit with Vivi!

The rest of the week~ NO SEWING! This is the week I’m on my annual Cape May beach trip with my sister. The weather doesn’t look perfect, but we will still sit on the beach when we can, eat, shop and do lots of walking!! I’ll share so pics next week!
I will be home tomorrow for the weekend ~ you see when you live at the beach you always stay home on the weekends! Traffic is always so heavy it’s hard to even drive around town sometimes! (If you ask any local they will tell you the best time at the beach is in June and September!). When I get home, I desperately need to get my sewing space reorganized!
Sewing Plans~
I’ve been simply overwhelmed with alterations and trying to decide what is worth my time to alter!!! I have clothes hanging everywhere in my sewing room ( on the doors, doorknobs, behind the doors on hooks and on a small clothing rack!!). It’s part of the reason my sewing room needs to get organized! I’ve decided that this weekend, I am simply going to sew new garments what I want! No altering!!!!
I have 2 promo pieces to sew for RCF~ the new shirting(which is cut out and ready to go) and the denim (whenever it gets here) and then I’m just going to sew whatever I’m in the mood to sew!!!
I am trying to source the striped seersucker for the skirt I shared last week. I need 4 colors~ but I’m having trouble finding a yellow to go along with the pink, green and blue. I’m wondering if just 3 colors would work well or if I should use 2 shades of blue or add purple, tan or aqua. Here is a pic of the skirt along with the seersucker colors I’ve found at Mood (which I have used before and like). I can’t decide if I should hold off and keep searching for the yellow. (The Aria shown above is made from the first three colors below~ the pink, green and blue)
What do you think? Do you have a good source for seersucker?
