New Fall Fabric Release From Raspberry Creek Fabrics

Earlier this week the new Fall Collections released. During release week, all new “Club” fabrics are $1 off per yard. Club fabrics are seasonal designs that are printed on 2 different groups of bases. Club Collections are released each new holiday season as well. The two different groups are as follows:

  • Group 1~ The “Natural Bases” French Terry, Cotton Lycra Jersey and the new Supreme Shirting Cotton 50’s
  • Group 2~ Double Brushed Poly, Rib Knit, Sweatshirt Fleece and Ponte Knit

Many of the designs are available in both of the fabric groups~ the difference will be the amount of print coverage. Full coverage designs don’t print well on the “natural fiber” bases. This is why all designs aren’t available on all the club bases. The “natural bases” designs have more white background as opposed to the others. Another thing to note is that anything printed on the Sweatshirt Fleece will have a slight “heathered” look to it.

When looking on the website, if you click on the design you are interested in it will show you the available bases. Be sure to click the one you want when ordering!! All of my promo makes this time around came from the Fall Florals Collection by Brittney Laidlaw. Brittney always does such a beautiful job with her designs! (PS is also coordinates the entire RCF Promo Team!)

Above is the Love Notions Constellation Pullover I made in the Fall Abstract Floral French Terry. (Sneak peek of the ribbing that will be coming to the shop in September!). Every release I “need” to sew up a new Constellation. I wear these year round. For more info on my Constellation collection, visit this blog post. You can find this fabric here.

I also sewed up a Cotton Lycra Jersey Bee and Hive Damask Floral print into my favorite nightgown pattern~ a hacked Love Notions Juliet Top. I always pick my favorite design to sew into a nightgown~ that way I can wear it more often! Note~ this cotton jersey gets softer and softer with every wash! You can find this fabric here.

Each release I also try to sew up something in either the DBP or Rib Knit. I typically choose the rib knit( as I find it cooler to wear), but this time I went for the DBP for the Love Notions Vivace top. I was drawn to this line drawn floral and apparently blue is my new color! I would like to note that the description for this fabric states “Navy”, but I don’t consider it a true navy. This is the “Navy Negative Line Drawn Floral~You can find this fabric here.

New Stretch Crepe, Rayon Challis and Ponte Designs Have Released Too!

This was a really big release from RCF this week. It even included new designs on Stretch Crepe, Rayon Challis and Ponte Knit. You may already know that I LOVE RCF Rayon Challis~ so this time around I decided to sew up a blouse in the Stretch Crepe. This isn’t a fabric that I would wear in the summer, but it’s perfect for the rest of the year. Later this week, I plan on sending out another Sew Mary Mac Blog with all the details on Stretch Crepe and tips for sewing it. I’ll also include my review of the Pattern Emporium Spill The Tea Blouse. Look for it at the beginning of next week. as I have a busy weekend. For the time being, here is the Spill The Tea Blouse that I made using one of the newly released stretch crepe designs.

What I Wore Last Week~

This week I wore a mix of brand new me-mades, along with a more recent makes and even some that are years old(that didn’t fit anymore).

  • LN Aria Button Down~ in 100% linen stripe from Gray Line Linens, NYC
  • LN Rhapsody~ in a rayon challis (Style Maker Fabrics 2024?)
  • Hey June Handmade Willamette Shirt~ in a rayon challis
    • This is make from way back in 2018!
  • LN Aurora Tunic~in a French Terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (pattern modified)
  • LN Aurora Tunic~in a French Terry from RCP
  • Chalk & Notch Rivi Shirt~ in a cotton shirting from Chic Fabrics, NYC Garment District
  • LN Caprice Skirt~ in a vintage cotton gingham with appliqué embellishment
  • LN Caprice Skirt~ in a Rayon Challis patchwork print, designer deadstock AK Textiles, NYC Garment District
    • Worn with a RTW knit denim shirt and tank top

My brand new Aria Button down was perfect for a hot day bike riding, but I do think I will shorten this pattern before I made it again. I did retrace my Aria pattern to a smaller size, and I think perhaps I may have shortened my older pattern. I’ll have to check on this.

I wore the Caprice Skirt I made during testing back in 2024 and simply tightened the elastic waist~ and then wore my brand new Caprice Skirt to the see South Pacific at the Bucks County Playhouse (PA).

The Rhapsody and Willamette tops are quite a few years old~ and I am so happy they fit well again! I truly have a closet FULL of Willamettes! If you check my Instagram you will see many of them posted there! It’s a fun popover style and so comfortable to wear.

I had 2 beach days this week~ so you got to see 2 of my LN Aurora tunics hacked into beach coverups. I have several of these, because I love wearing them to the beach and I love wearing them when I get home from the beach as well! They are much looser than when I made them~ but I won’t be bothering with altering them. (PS~ they also make great “house dresses” as my grandmother used to call them)

Lastly the C & N Rivi Blouse that I made during testing this past winter. I have to wear I tied up, as it is too large and with the fabric being so crisp it kinda sticks out at the hips. I do hope to make another one some day!

What I’m Sewing This Week~

I’ve had a busy week sewing!! Between the extreme heat we’ve been having along with lots of storms~ I’ve been having plenty of sewing time! Last week I finished the three knit Fall Collection strike-offs and I moved on to the Stretch Crepe blouse shown above. This was the first time I made the Pattern Emporium Spill The Tea Blouse~ and I’m very pleased with it. (Next week, I’ll have another blog post out all about this pattern and stretch crepe.)

I also sewed up a LN Aria Button Down with the new Oxford Cloth Shirting that is releasing next week. Stay tuned for photos and all the fabric details next week! Here’s a little sneak peek! Shhhhh

In between doing my promo sews, I was able to sew up 2 new Pattern Emporium About Town Popover tops. I’m really loving the cap sleeve version for the hot weather! I’ve now made 4 of this version of the pattern (so I guess I need to write up a blog post on that one too!). I sewed up one version in a “Granny Chic” cotton poplin and another one in my new favorite linen, “Warsa” linen from Gray Lines Linen in NYC. It is available to order online and you may order samples as well. The white Warsa Linen is lightweight enough to be perfect for hot weather~ yet it also isn’t see-through! I added the epaulets and rose gold “bee” buttons to this version. I’ve included a quick pic I took of it, but I hadn’t given it a good press yet. As you can see, different fabrics will create very different looks with the same pattern. You can see my lightweight seersucker version above in “What I Wore”.

Sewing Plans~

For the next few weeks I will still be working on some promo sews for Raspberry Creek Fabrics. As you can see above, there is a ton of new fabrics coming soon! This is what I’ve got planned for the next few weeks.

  • New Halloween Club Fabrics~ a Cardigan for myself and 2 fun makes for my great niece and nephew!
  • New French Twill~ available in so many solids, I’m still deciding what I will make with this and which color I will choose!

I still have my seersucker fabrics for my colorblocked skirt in my “To-Be Cut” pile and I WILL have this sewn this season!! I’m planning on taking it on our last trip of the summer~ my favorite vacation of the year~ Block Island!!

I also want to sew up one or 2 Melody Dolmans because quite frankly, I’m tried of altering and tired of wearing things that are too big! I have a soft cotton plaid seersucker and a red ditsy floral cotton poplin, both that I purchased this spring from the Garment District in NYC

And, I’m not forgetting that I want to sew up another one or two Caprice skirts before summer is over! I know many of you think of summer ending in August~ but where I live~ September is what we call “Locals Summer”! The roads, beaches, and boardwalks are all less crowded and much more peaceful!

There is also a new pattern from Love Notions going into testing soon. I’m not sure if I will be testing this pattern, but I will be able to get a copy of it before release, so I will be sewing that up as well!
