Feature Friday Pattern From Love Notions~
The $6 Feature Friday pattern from Love Notions this week, 8/22/2025 is the Sunday Dress and Romper! Both the Ladies and Girls versions are on sale. Use my code 10MARYMAC for an additional 10% off.
Back in 2020, I did my very first pattern test for Love Notions. It was the Sunday Romper. At that time, I made the dress version~ because I “knew” I would look terrible in a romper! My thoughts were: “I’m too old to wear a romper”, “I’m too short to wear a romper”, “Pear shapes can’t wear rompers” and the excuses went on.

Fast forward and well~ you guessed it~ this petite, plump 60+ year old, made herself a romper and she LOVES it! Regardless of your age, size, shape or height~ we all deserve some secret pajamas! The SUNDAY ROMPER belongs in EVERYONE’s closet! So if you’ve already purchased the pattern~ it’s time to sew it up!!! If not~ be sure you grab yours today!

The Details
The Sunday Romper truly is a romper everyone can wear. It has front and back V-neck openings to allow for easy on and off. It has an elastic waist to help make fitting easy and is loaded with options!

- Shorts, cropped or full length pants
- Drawstring and/or elastic waist
- Front inseam pockets (optional)

What I Wore Last Week~
It was another stay around town week last week. I had a lot of prepping for our trip we are on this week. I went out for my weekly dinner with my sister (and my niece who was up from Charleston, SC), went on a short bike ride at a local reservoir and tidied up my sewing studio.
- LN Caprice Skirt in Rayon Challis from Style Maker Fabrics worn with a Old Navy Tee
- Sew House Seven Tabor V-Neck in a vintage sweater knit (Note : This is sized down one size)
- LN Laundry Day Tee Dress made in Loop Terry with the Puff Sleeve from the Arlington Top
- Another Laundry Day Tee Dress~ this one made in swim knit was perfect for the humid day I spent doing errands.
- LN Tinley Straight Skirt in a Designer Deadstock Stretch Cotton Twill from Chic Fabrics (NYC)
- LN Timbre Top in a custom printed Rayon Challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics
- And of course, many LN Tinley Skorts for my morning walks and bike ride. (not shown)
- It looks like this week was pink and blue week!!

For anyone who is wondering, I LOVE the “EveryWear Tees” from Old Navy. They are a relaxed fit and 100% cotton~ so not clingy at all! When on sale you can grab then for just $8. The V-Necks look like they are super low on the models, but I find them to fit me fine~ even in a larger size. They come both crew neck and V-necks in many colors.
What I’m Sewing This Week~
Nothing!!
Typically that wouldn’t be a good thing, but this week I have been up in New England (Newport, RI) all week. In fact I’m getting home today! But I can say as of Thursday night~ I have been enjoying seeing family, the cooler temps, the mansions, the Bristol Bike Path, the awesome seafood, sailing and great restaurants!
Sewing Plans For Next Week~
I am excited to get back to sewing next week! (After all the unpacking and laundry!)
These are my sewing goals for next week:
- Halloween Strike-Offs for Raspberry Creek Fabrics
- 2 Brindle & Twig Colorblocked Lounge Sweatshirts for my great niece and nephew.
- I want to make a wearable muslin of the Pattern Emporium Lyrical Blouse. I have plenty of rayon challis in my stash for this. I will “shop my stash”. One of my sewing “friends” Lori, posted her version on Instagram this week and I just fell in love with it! If you use Instagram, I highly recommend that you follow her @girlsinthegarden.sews
- I want to sew up this pink and orange cotton gauze fabric from Cali Fabrics. I’m not sure exactly what I want to make yet! Often when I’m away from my sewing machines I come up with lots of ideas! If I love the way the PE Lyrical blouse fits me~ I may even make it from that! (I also have the PE Spill The Tea Top which has a cute cap sleeve that might be perfect for this fabric!)

These are Brindle & Twig Lounge Sweatshirts I made for Lucas and Vivi for the RCF Valentine’s release. I absolutely LOVE this pattern for them. I have color blocked them on my own, as the original pattern is just a solid one-piece front. It has a casual relaxed fit, so it is perfect when sewing for children that aren’t always with you for it. I simply ask my niece each time if it is time to size up or not! Below are the “panels” and fabrics I will making their new sweatshirts with. These released 8/19/25 and are $1 off per yard through Monday 8/25/25.

Pattern Emporium also has weekly specials on their patterns as well. They are an Australian company, so the sale begins on Thursday nights for us in the US. Quite a few sewists that I follow (and trust their opinion) use PE patterns quite often. I will let you know my thoughts after I have sewn this up!
(In between packing, I’ve spent some time reading over the PE Spill The Tea Tutorial. WOW so far I’m really impressed! I’ll give you all the details next week!)

Thanks for reading “The Weekly Stitch”! I’m so happy you took the time to “visit” my sewing room! Be sure to read next week’s “stitch” for all the Me Made pics and details about Newport!

Fabric Resources
LN Sunday Romper~ This is sewn in an ITY knit
The black leaf ITY was purchased from an independent store that I visit a few times a year. Affordable Fabrics (Now called Americana Fabrics) is a great shop with 2 locations in Connecticut. They are both loaded with fabrics~ many designer deadstocks. All fabrics in the store are $3.99 a yard. Every time we go to visit my husband’s family or travel to New England I always stop in to replenish my stash. (Who am I kidding, my stash will never run out!). I love picking up fabric there to kept on hand for wearable muslins and pretesting. The Uncaseville location has moved to Waterford, CT. It’s even bigger and better! Still just off Route 95 and easy to get to!
Another great source for ITY knits is Zelouf Fabrics. If you visit my Laundry Day Tee Dress Blog post, you will be several ITY knits I have purchased from them. You can visit that blog here.
LN Caprice Skirt~Pink Floral Stripe Rayon Challis. This is no longer available, however this was from Style Maker Fabrics. They always have a big selection of beautiful rayon challis, often imported from Europe.
LN LDT Dress~ Loop Terry was purchased last year from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. I bought it in every color they had! I wear these as beach cover-ups and lounge wear. Currently there is only Taupe, Gray and a Light Blue with a Grecian design. You can see them HERE. The Royal Blue Floral swim knit can be found HERE.
Raspberry Creek Fabrics~ The Valentine’s French Terry is no longer available at retail pricing. You may order it as a custom print. The New 2025 Halloween Line can be found HERE.
Cali Fabric~ Pink and Orange Plaid Designer Cotton Gauze #30144. This is a Designer Deadstock fabric and I really want to get it sewn up while it is still hot!
Bonus Photos: Manasquan Reservoir Bike Ride
We stayed close to home and rode the perimeter trail around our local reservoir. A quick 10 mile bike ride in the morning before it got too hot! I’m always happy when I get to see a Great Blue Heron (last photo)
