The Weekly Stitch With Sew Mary Mac~ June 20, 2025

I’ve decided to try something new and write short weekly posts about what is going on in my sewing room. (OK maybe not weekly, but maybe twice per month). These will be short and simple posts that will highlight the patterns and fabrics that I used that week. Sometimes I will highlight upcoming projects too! Hopefully they will give you some inspiration!

My plan is to also to let all the fans of Love Notions Patterns know what pattern is the Feature Friday $6 pattern, because they really are such a great deal! With that being said, the $6 pattern from Love Notions today, 6/20/25 is the Juliet Top! It just so happens that I finished up two new Juliet tops over the weekend! I really do LOVE this pattern!

The Juliet Top is a “not-so-basic” basic that is a great addition to any closet. This cute flowy top is such a quick and fun sew, I highly recommend cutting 2 at a time and batch sewing them! On top of that, it’s beginner friendly! This is such a versatile top, wear it alone or use it for layering! You can read all the details about the Juliet over on this blog post.

You can purchase the Juliet Top pattern HERE. Use my code LOVEMARY10LN for an extra 10% off. IF for some reason this code does not work, please try 10MARYMAC. (This will be my new code for July-September 2025)

My 2 newest Juliet tops pictured above are both made with fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. The Navy “bee” print is a lightweight Double Brushed Poly. The Coral Lobster print is an 8 X 3 rib. I had both of these custom printed.

Did you know that the Juliet Top pattern also makes THE best nightgown!! These are my favorite nightgowns in my dresser~ I’m always grabbing them as soon as they are washed! All the details on creating your own Juliet nightgown can be found on this blog post. Both of these fabrics are from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. RCF always has a great assortment of Rib Knit and Cotton Jersey prints available at retail pricing.

I’ve also been testing and sewing up the Love Notions Clearwater Summer Essentials pattern for Girls! This pattern will hopefully be releasing next week! I’ve been having a ball sewing this up in a 4T for my little great niece. I love sewing up swim fabric, but in a size 4T~ that’s been a totally new experience for me. I made the Clearwater Summer Essentials Swim dress for myself last summer during testing and was so surprised at how much I loved it. If you’re nervous about sewing up a swimsuit for yourself, there will be an online sewing course released too and it’s like having your own personal sewing teacher holding your hand! Look for all the details in next week’s blog post!

Here are the 2 Clearwater Swim dresses I sewed up last summer. Fabrics are from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. The one of the left was a custom order, the one on the right as from the 2024 Swim Collection. In my opinion the RCF swim fabrics are some of the BEST out there! I use them for a lot of garments other than swim suits. You can read more about that here.

Lastly, I’ve been working on 4~ yes 4 new Aria button downs. Two linen versions and two seersucker versions. I ALWAYS sew up at least 2 Aria shirts at once! I don’t have any completed photos of them yet, as they need to have a few sleeves inserted and a good press. I’m also waiting for some buttons to arrive. I’m off for a short vacation next week, and they WILL be coming with me (if my buttons get here!). I’m planning to grab some modeled pics of them while I’m in New England.

The seersucker versions are each color blocked with 3 different colors of striped seersucker. It honestly took me so long to plan out the color placement and cutting. I made myself a cutting chart to make sure I got all the correct pieces cut. Also, is there anything more satisfying than a “burrito” roll?

The seersucker is from Mood Fabrics, in the garment district in NYC. It is also available online. I bought 1 yard of each of the 5 colors: Purple, Green, Light Blue, Country Blue and Bubblegum Pink. You can find this fabric HERE.

The red and bright pink linen fabrics were purchased from Gray Lines Linen in the NYC garment district. When color blocking garments, it’s important to make sure your linens are the same weight. For this reason, I always purchase my linen from this store. I know that all the hankerchief linen is exactly the same no matter what color I choose. It is available in 43 different colors. You can find it here.

The Pink and Red “She Sells Sea Shells” linen/rayon blend is from Black Bird Fabrics. It is part of their Mediterranean Vacation Collection. These are exclusive prints to Black Bird Fabrics. This fabric shop may be a tad more expensive than some, but every fabric I have ever gotten from them is of superb quality! I highly recommend them. This is a Canadian company ~ but shipping to the US is totally worth it!.

If you’ve gotten this far, thank you for being interested in the goings on in my sewing room this week!
