I was so excited to be asked to join in on this Blog Tour for Raspberry Creek Fabrics! As some of you may know, previously I was a Strike-Off sewist and member of their Blog Promo team. When they approached me about being part of this Holiday Tour, I couldn’t say no!

My challenge was to create Holiday Pajamas with any fabric that Raspberry Creek Fabrics has to offer.
First Decision- Fabric!
I LOVE the new Rib knits that are printed in house so I knew I wanted to sew one of them up. I know that so many sewists just love DBP(Double Brushed Poly)- and although I do find it very soft, I get too hot wearing it. So it definitely wouldn’t work for pajamas for me.
The Raspberry Creek Rib knit is just as soft and so much cooler to wear. I find it actually feels cool to the touch (very similar to ITY). Picking a print was the hardest part of this project! There are just so many pretty florals, novelty prints and plaids that are perfect for the holiday season! In the end I chose this Pink, Hunter and Burgundy Jewel Tone Holiday Floral. Next Decision- Pattern!
I spent a bit of time thinking about this one. A pair of Holiday pajamas would be really cute, but…would I wear them? I am a nightgown person, I always have been. So what pattern do I own that would make a cute nightgown? And then the obvious came to mind–the Laundry Day Tee dress! Those of you who follow my sewing journey know all about my love for this free pattern! (I have a whole blog post dedicated to the LDT dress. Click HERE to see that post)
Many sewists on the Love Notions Pattern Support group ask- “Can I use the LDT for a nightgown?” The answer is ABSOLUTELY!!!! I lived in my LDT dresses all summer . Many days I felt like I was wearing secret pajamas, so it was clearly time for me to make myself an official nightgown. (Why have I never made myself a nightgown before?)

I sewed this version up exactly as I did all my others. For fit tips check out my LDT blog post HERE. I made a short sleeved version, but wanted to make it a special for the holidays, so I added a cute ruffle to the bottom of the sleeve. It is a really simple hack.

How to Make A Sleeve Ruffle

- Measure the width of the bottom of your sleeve. (Mine was 16″)
- To determine how long to cut your ruffle piece, take the width of your sleeve x 1.75. (Mine was 16 x 1.75 = 28″)
- Cut 2 strips(ruffles) 3″ x 28″.
- I cut off 2″ off the lower edge of my sleeve before attaching the ruffles. This would be a personal choice depending on how long you would like your sleeve to be.
- Fold each ruffle strip in half, wrong sides together. Press.
- Run a gathering stitch across the unfolded edge.
- Gather ruffle to fit the lower edge of your sleeve. Pin the ruffle to the lower edge of your sleeve, open end of ruffle along bottom edge of sleeve.
- Stitch in place. ( I serged them)
- Press ruffle down away from sleeve and topstitch down. This helps to keep the ruffle from flipping up when wearing.
My LDT Money Saving Tip(Secret)
When the fabric I am using is not directional, I often add a center back seam to my LDT. This allows me to make one with just 1.5 yards of fabric. Here is my layout for my Holiday nightgown.

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading my blog! I hope you all treat yourself to a Holiday nightgown or jammies! Raspberry Creek Fabrics has the best selection and there is truly something for everyone!
